Therapeutic Effects of Royal Jelly on Some Biochemical Parameters in Nephrotoxicity Induced by Carbon Tetrachloride (Ccl4) In Albino Rats.

Abstract: The present study was designed to determine the possible therapeutic effects of royal jelly against carbon tetrachloride (CCl4) induced oxidative stress and biochemical changes in the kidney of albino rats. A patch of 20 male albino rats averaged weights (190±10 g) at the beginning of the experiment were divided into 4 main groups according to the treatment and requirements of the experiment. The rats injected i.p. with CCl4 at a dose (1 mL/kg, 1:1 in olive oil) twice per week and received, via gavage, royal j… Show more

“…Royal jelly may have positive nephroprotective effects on the ethylene glycol and CCl 4 induced renal injury. [23,24] Given that CCl 4 is associated with significant liver and kidney injury, the aim of this study is to investigate the potential effectiveness of propolis and royal jelly against CCl 4 -induced hepato-renal damage.…”

“…CCl 4 in a concentration of 1 mL/kg diluted in olive oil 1:1 (approximately 0.22 mL per animal in relation to the mean body weight) was administered twice a week, via oral gavage. The dose criterion was taken in accordance with the research of Ali et al 18 and Suljević et al 19 Oregano oil ( Origanum minutiflorum extract, OME; Probotanic) in a concentration of 20 and 60 mg/kg dissolved in 1 mL of olive oil was given three times a week, via oral gavage 20,21 . OME is commercially available pure organic oil intended for oral consumption.…”
