Theoretical analysis of a circular hybrid plasmonic waveguide to design a hybrid plasmonic nano-antenna

Abstract: In this paper, a circular hybrid plasmonic waveguide-fed nano-antenna (CHPWFNA) has been introduced for operating at the standard telecommunication wavelength of 1,550 nm. For the first time, the dispersion relation of a circular hybrid plasmonic waveguide as the feed line of the proposed nano-antenna has been derived, analytically. To verify the accuracy of the analytical solution, two numerical techniques of finite element method (FEM) and finite-difference time-domain (FDTD) method have been used. Numerical… Show more

“…While wired connections conventionally facilitate data transmission, they are not convenient for wearable technology (Nguyen et al, 2021a). Wireless connections offer the advantage of transmitting data to mobile devices for convenient analysis, yet proximity limitations and high-density data transmission challenges persist (Khodadadi et al, 2023). However, various wireless communication technologies have been widely employed for remote monitoring and control of sensor systems (Smith et al, 2023).…”

“…But among the many innovations, the work of [38] draws attention due to the proposal of an optical nano-antenna in the shape of a maple leaf inspired by nature, which is presented and fed with a hybrid plasmonic waveguide. The design proposed by the researchers provides a high gain of 11.8 dB at THz frequencies and a bandwidth of 400 GHz.…”

“…In contrast, OMBNAs cannot transmit the radiation pattern over a long distance because of the inherent loss of metal at optical frequencies 12 , 13 . OMBNAs are appropriate to decrease the fabrication complexity of integrated on-chip circuits due to making multipath wireless links between different elements of photonic integrated circuits (PICs) 14 , 15 . As a result, the most important application of OMBNAs is utilizing them as an intra or inter on-chip wireless link to transmit optical data from one device to other devices placed at different chips or layers 16 , 17 .…”
