The World’s Drylands: A Classification

Abstract: Abstract:In this chapter a global overview of drylands is presented. The study region and case study areas are selected using a few simple criteria. Starting with the aridity class and degree of degradation areas were classified based on the population density and on the presence of at least one large city in the area.
