The WASA detector facility at CELSIUS

Abstract: The WASA 4π multidetector system, aimed at investigating light meson production in light ion collisions and η meson rare decays at the CELSIUS storage ring in Uppsala is presented. A detailed description of the design, together with the anticipated and achieved performance parameters are given.

“…The experiment studying the 1 H(d, pp)n breakup reaction at beam energies 300, 340, 380 and 400 MeV has been performed at the Cooler Synchrotron COSY-Jülich with the WASA (Wide Angle Shower Apparatus) detector [8,9]. The detection system consists of four main components: Central Detector (CD), Forward Detector (FD), a pellet target device and a scattering chamber.…”

“…The experiment using the 1 H(d, pp)n breakup reaction at 340, 380 and 400 MeV deuteron beam energy has been performed in January 2013 at the Cooler Synchrotron COSY-Jülich with the WASA-at-COSY detector [8,9]. The WASA (Wide Angle Shower Apparatus) detector consists of four main components: Central Detector (CD), Forward Detector (FD), Pellet Target Device and the Scattering Chamber, covering almost full solid angle (see Fig.…”
