The Utility of the Weight and Lifestyle Inventory (WALI) in Predicting 2-Year Weight Loss After Bariatric Surgery

Abstract: While the WALI provides a fruitful means of gathering clinical information, results suggested no association between scores on Section H of the WALI and weight loss. The results suggest that EE may impact surgical outcomes differentially in men as compared to women. Future research should seek to replicate these findings and focus on gender differences related to surgical outcomes.

A negative relationship was found in four studies, 37,41,50,51 while a positive relationship was found in three studies 15,45,52 .…”

“…This variation is probably due to the methodological differences between these studies. On the other hand, all of these studies agree that preoperative evaluation of these patients concerning eating attitudes is critical considering that disordered eating had adverse effects on post-bariatric surgery weight losing process (27,28).…”

“…Entretanto, apesar das estratégias atuais para tratamento da doença, existe a possibilidade da sua recidiva com o passar dos anos³. Uma justificativa para isso seria a inadequação dos hábitos alimentares dos pacientes após o procedimento cirúrgico 4 .…”
