The Uses of Copper and Zinc Aluminates to Capture and Convert Carbon dioxide to Syn-gas at Higher Temperature

Abstract: The uses of copper and zinc aluminates to capture and convert the CO2 to syn-gas were studied at higher temperatures. The samples of copper and zinc aluminates were prepared by solid-solid fusion method by calcining in air at 900 o C for 3 h. Those samples were characterized by acidity/alkalinity, surface area, XRD pattern, IR, SEM images and screening to capture CO2 at the different temperatures. The phases Cu2O, CuO, ZnO, CuAl2O4 and ZnAl2O4 were found to be in the samples of zinc and copper aluminates. Acid… Show more

“…CuO, Cu2O nanoparticles and Cu/Cu2O composite nanoparticles of different sizes have been hydrothermally synthesized by varying the reaction temperature and in the presence of biocompatible surfactants; polyoxyethylene, sorbitan laurate, polyethylene glycol 1000 and polyethylene glycol 8000 [20]. The coppercontaining phases -copper oxide (CuO), cuprous oxide (Cu2O), copper aluminate (CuAl2O4), zinc oxide (ZnO) and zinc aluminate (ZnAl2O4) were prepared by thermal reactions [21]. Capture of CO2 and conversion to syn-gas by the samples of copper and zinc aluminates at higher temperatures were observed.…”

“…Another example [57] as shown in following euations the uses of copper and zinc aluminates to capture the CO 2 . Activation partially oxidizes the carbon to produce submicrometer pores and channels, which give the high surface area-to-volume ratio needed for a good sorbent [1].…”

“…Esta faixa de comprimento de onda corresponde à ligação metal-oxigênio [14], mais comumente pode estar relacionada a possíveis frequências de alongamento alumínio-oxigênio. Na faixa de comprimento de onda entre 1500-1600 cm -1 é possível perceber uma banda de absorção no espectro da amostra HBP, atribuída à presença de resquícios de matéria orgânica [15].…”
