This study aims at exploring the problem of the readiness and competence of new teachers to teach in primary schools. This study specifically focuses on identifying the readiness of new teachers to conduct teaching professionally, and analyzing their competence in conducting teaching. This study employs a mixed-method research design with data collected from two different approaches: a qualitative approach by conducting interviews and observation, and a quantitative approach by conducting a survey. The data were collected from lecturers, graduate teachers working as teachers, graduate teachers working not as teachers, and users of graduate teachers. The results of data collection and analysis were made into several themes. The results showed that the majority of graduates were ready to join the workforce as professional teachers with the risk that they had to accept the lack of welfare and legitimacy as unprofessional teachers because they had to attend further professional education programs. The education provided by the lecturers during their study in their institution in the aspects of knowledge and skills in the field of study and pedagogy became the foundation for new teachers in starting their careers as professional teachers in schools. A good educational process had produced teachers who have competencies with good categories in various aspects.

Introduction: Old age is a period that indicates a process of physical, mental, and social deterioration over time. There are several things that concern health in old age, one of which is functional status which is a major health problem in the elderly. A person's ability to perform daily activities can be assessed by their functional capacity. Physical functional capacity can be measured using the six-minute walk test (6MWT). There have been many studies that discuss the 6MWT, but none have specifically looked for the relationship between physical functional capacity and sleep quality in the elderly. Purpose: This study was conducted with the aim of knowing the relationship between physical functional capacity and sleep quality in the elderly at Gotong Royong Hospital. Methods: This study used an analytic observational research design with a cross sectional approach. Data were collected from demographic questionnaires, Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index (PSQI), and direct 6MWT measurements. Data analysis in this study used univariate and bivariate analysis. Results: In this study, the results obtained p = 0.000 (p < 0.05) indicate that there is a significant relationship between physical functional capacity and the quality of sleep of the elderly at Gotong Royong Hospital. Conclusion: There is a relationship between physical functional capacity and elderly sleep quality at Gotong Royong Surabaya Hospital.

This work presents the development of a mixed reality (MR) application that uses color Passthrough for learning to play the piano. A study was carried out to compare the interpretation outcomes of the participants and their subjective experience when using the MR application developed to learn to play the piano with a system that used Synthesia (N = 33). The results show that the MR application and Synthesia were effective in learning piano. However, the students played the pieces significantly better when using the MR application. The two applications both provided a satisfying user experience. However, the subjective experience of the students was better when they used the MR application. Other conclusions derived from the study include the following: (1) The outcomes of the students and their subjective opinion about the experience when using the MR application were independent of age and gender; (2) the sense of presence offered by the MR application was high (above 6 on a scale of 1 to 7); (3) the adverse effects induced by wearing the Meta Quest Pro and using our MR application were negligible; and (4) the students showed their preference for the MR application. As a conclusion, the advantage of our MR application compared to other types of applications (e.g., non-projected piano roll notation) is that the user has a direct view of the piano and the help elements appear integrated in the user’s view. The user does not have to take their eyes off the keyboard and is focused on playing the piano.
