The use of a dynamic aluminum cell model

Abstract: Aluminum Reduction OverviewThis article describes the application of a mathematical dynamic model of an aluminum smelter cell. The model-based programs are used to train personnel. Planned changes in process parameters are fi rst calculated to choose the best practice, and in this paper, the authors give examples of such calculations illustrated by graphs and diagrams. A description is also offered of the application of a model-based cryolite ratio stabilization program, and the economic effectiveness gained t… Show more

“…At the same time, Fig. [ 4,5] present the comparisons of the cryolite ratios of cell 1# and cell 2# in the three test steps, respectively. It is seen that the variations of both electrolyte temperatures and cryolite ratios in the third test step are smaller than those in the first and second test steps regardless of the cell.…”

“…Tab. [1][2][3][4] list the mean measurement results in a day. From these results it is seen that the AlF 3 addition has a complicated effect on the electrolyte temperature and the excess AlF 3 content, even if the preceding AlF 3 additions have been close to the average consumption of the cell.…”
