The thermal and the electrical conductivity of a copper crystal at various temperatures

Abstract: Summary. The thermal conductivity of a number of regular and non-regular single metallic crystals has been studied by previous workers. There appear to be no marked differences between the conductivity of single and polycrystal specimens of the regular metals, except at low temperatures, but further confirmation of this statement by additional accurate investigations seems necessary, more particularly at low temp~ratures, where different observers do not agree . .The methods which have been used to determine th… Show more

“…Hence, the investigation of copper single crystals as catalysts for graphene growth is of high relevance. Copper single crystal properties, such as electrical resistivity, thermal conductivity and thermal expansion as a function of temperature have been investigated since the beginning of the last century [7,8]. The results have shown an increase of the electrical resistivity and of the thermal expansion coefficient with temperature.…”

“…However, as the copper foils are polycrystalline, the resultant products can vary due to the presence of grain boundaries and other inhomogeneities [6]. A single crystal represents the thermodynamically most stable form of metal, provided it is clean and free from mechanical strain [7]. Hence, the investigation of copper single crystals as catalysts for graphene growth is of high relevance.…”
