TiO2/rGO nanocomposites are prepared by the solvothermal process using titanium sulfate and graphene oxide (GO) as raw materials utilized for the photodegradation of gaseous formaldehyde. Characterization by Fourier‐transform infrared (FTIR) spectroscopy, Raman spectroscopy and X‐ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS) reveal that GO is partially reduced to reduced GO (rGO) and TiOC bond is formed between TiO2 and rGO. X‐ray diffraction (XRD) confirms that the presence of anatase TiO2. High‐resolution transmission electron microscopy (HRTEM) exhibits that TiO2 nanoparticles with a diameter of ≈20 nm are uniformly loaded on the wrinkled rGO sheets. UV‐vis spectroscopy reveals that the absorption intensity of TiO2/rGO increases with increasing GO content. Photoluminescence (PL) spectroscopy indicates that the ability of restraining electron–hole recombination initially increases with increasing GO content, followed by a gradual decrease. The TiO2/rGO nanocomposite (mTiO2:mGO = 40:1) demonstrates optimal photocatalytic performance with formaldehyde degradation rate of 96% in 2 h and stable activity, which can be ascribed to the larger reduction of GO (76.19%), higher TiOC bonds (17%), unfolded rGO sheets, and lower electron–hole recombination rate.

In this work, we focused on facile preparation of ternary nanocomposites containing TiO 2 nanosheets, reduced graphene oxide, and different quantities of silver for photocatalytic treatment of tetracycline (TC) antibiotic wastewater. Plasmonic silver nanoparticles were deposited on TiO 2 nanosheets/reduced graphene oxide nanocomposite via a photodeposition method (TGA(x) samples). The as-obtained samples were identified by variety of techniques such as XRD, UV-Vis DRS, FESEM/ EDX, TEM, and Raman spectroscopy. The photocatalytic degradation experiments of TC (in concentration of 30 mg/L) were carried out by synthesized nanocomposites, and the degradation efficiency of TGA (0.076) (the optimal sample) was evaluated as 52.56% after 3 hr of irradiation under visible light. The obtained results showed that in TGA(x) samples, the reduced graphene oxide acts as a bridge for transferring photoinduced electrons from plasmonic silver nanoparticles to TiO 2 nanosheetes. A three-layered artificial neural network model with four input variables (irradiation time, catalyst dosage, initial concentration of TC, and silver nitrate content) and one output variable (% degradation) was optimized with 11 hidden neurons. Herein, silver (Ag)-based urchin-like E-graphite carbon nitride/titanium dioxide (E-g-C 3 N 4/ TiO 2) ternary composite was successfully synthesised via hydrothermal process and it showed excellent photocatalytic activity. The large interfacial contact between threedimensional (3D) urchin-like TiO 2 (UT) and g-C 3 N 4 leads to high photocatalytic activity, compared with pure 3D UT. To enlarge the response of light and enhance the charge carriers' transfer, the Ag nanoparticles with average sizes of 13 nm were loaded on the surface of g-C 3 N 4 /TiO 2. Photodegradation test results of RhB shown that the 3% Ag-based urchin-like E-g-C 3 N 4 /TiO 2 composite has the highest catalytic activity, which reaches 97.98%. Thus, the material has a promising application for the degradation of organics.
