“…From the results of our study, we conclude that even in a temperate climatic zone the environmental stress on drugs in prehospital EMS is such that it may lead to significant alterations of substance stability as well as galenic and/or package stability (1–3, 11, 22, 23). Furthermore, we conclude that the common practice to store drugs within EMS vehicles without any further thermal protection must be considered critically.…”

“…The prehospital emergency environment, however, often exceeds these storage recommendations. Main stress factors are sunlight, vibration and extreme temperature (1, 2). In this context studies have shown extreme storage conditions in EMS vehicles ranging from −20°C to +80°C (3–5).…”

“…Adrenaline (Epinephrine) is used to treat a number of conditions including anaphylaxis, cardiac arrest, and superficial bleeding. Adrenaline is a chiral compound, and only the L-isomer has significant pharmacological activity and is incorporated as an active component into adrenaline formulations [1,2]. L-adrenaline is available in a form of aqueous solution filled into ampoules (used mainly by the health care professionals) or auto injectors (for selfinjection by the patients).…”
