The hoax has been widely discussed in many studies employing various approaches, and one of the hoaxes massively spread recently is news about COVID-19. This qualitative study aims at investigating the essence of hoax news related to COVID-19 in the Indonesian context using a content analysis approach. The main source of data was 50 hoax news collected from turnbackhoax.com, which is one of the credible anti-hoax news sources in Indonesia. The present study collected the news from 1st January 2022 until 30th March 2020. They were then analysed and interpreted qualitatively. The research findings revealed that hoax news circulated during this pandemic era mostly had the purpose of sparking public panic, especially panic buying and panic moving. To trigger such a condition, writers of hoax news frequently used symbols such as time markers (time signals) and quantifiers and involved famous figures. This implies that hoaxes are not only spread during political events or other important occasions but also when most humans in the world experience mass trauma, which in this case is due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Social media analytics, especially Twitter, has experienced significant growth over the last few years. The data generated by Twitter provides valuable information to many stakeholders regarding user behavior, preferences, tastes, and characteristics. The presence of influencers on social media can invite interaction with other users. An influencer can affect the speed of spreading information on social media. This study looks at the influence of influencers and information dissemination channels on Twitter data related to COVID-19 vaccination in Indonesia as one of the hot Twitter discussion trends. This study applies Social Network Analysis (SNA) as a theoretical and methodological framework to show that interactions between users have differences on the network when the analyzed tweets are divided into mention and retweet networks. This study found that the key accounts in disseminating information related to Covid-19 vaccination were dominated by official accounts of government organizations and online news portals. The official Twitter account of government organizations turns out to have an essential role in disseminating information related to COVID-19 vaccination, namely the @KemenkesRI account belonging to the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Indonesia and the @Puspen_TNI account belonging to the TNI Information Center.

Maraknya penggunaan media digital saat ini cenderung meningkatkan kesadaran masyarakat tentang pentingnya arti perlindungan informasi. Tidak hanya untuk melindungi informasi rahasia dan pribadi, namun juga untuk tujuan memilah informasi sebenarnya dari yang bersifat hoax. Perlindungan informasi dapat dilakukan menggunakan teknik-teknik dalam enkripsi dan steganografi. Pada penelitian ini, metode LSB dengan pola zig-zag digunakan untuk menyembunyikan pesan yang dienkripsi menggunakan rail-fence cipher. Atribut steganografi yang dinilai adalah imperceptible, fidelity dan recovery. Implementasi steganografi menggunakan metoda LSB dengan pola zig-zag menggunakan ukuran pesan mulai dari 10% sampai dengan mendekati 100% berhasil memenuhi ketiga atribut steganografi yang baik tesebut. Hal ini ditunjukkan dengan nilai PSNR sebesar 52.5564 dB untuk kapasitas mendekati 100% dimana secara visual citra hasil steganografi tidak menunjukkan perbedaan dari citra aslinya.
