“…2D-G). The formation of hydrogen bonds between the carbonyl groups of collagen molecules and OH groups of GSE (Hagerman and Butler 1981) on the surface of the drug-loaded nanoparticles might facilitate the initial retention and attachment of the nanoparticles to the dentin collagen matrix.…”

“…Acidic proline-rich proteins, along with statherins and histatins, have a high affinity for hydroxyapatite and are prominent components of the tooth enamel protein pellicle (Lamkin et al, 1996). Proline-rich proteins, particularly basic proline-rich proteins, have a particularly high affinity for dietary polyphenols (Hagerman and Butler, 1981), as do histatins (Bennick and Yan, 1995).In the present study, we examined whether the salivary protein pellicle on teeth promotes tooth-staining and/or whether salivary proteins in solution might promote or reduce tooth staining. We used parotid saliva, since it contains histatins and proline-rich proteins and, since it is ductal saliva, interpretation of results is not complicated by the presence of exogenous components found in whole-mouth saliva.…”

“…The levels of tannic acid added to the diets were established based on the analysis of the amount of condensed tannin present in the sorghum, which, according to the methodology of HCL-Butanol (Hagerman & Butler, 1981) carried out at the Bromatology Laboratory of UAG-UFRPE A9904 (cultivar A9904) was 2.55% of total condensed tannin in DM. Control sorghum (cultivar BRS Ponta Negra) 0.92% of total condensed tannin in DM by Terrill et al (1992) carried out at EMBRAPA Sete Lagoas -MG.…”
