The spatiotemporal instability on mixed convection in porous media

Abstract: The absolute and convective instability on mixed convection in porous media is examined, and the phase transition from the oscillatory wave motion to the stationary vortex one is observed. Based on linear and weakly nonlinear analyses, the critical conditions to mark the onset of traveling transverse rolls are analytically obtained for small Péclet numbers. The flow change from transverse wave to longitudinal vortex is reproduced by numerical simulation. These criteria made good agreement with the available ex… Show more

“…The recent interest on the phenomenon of Benard convection and its dynamics is increasingly popular among the scholars to investigate further physical features in versatile configurations. When the convection occurs through a porous layer, Darcy–Benard convection might be due to convective nature of instabilities (Nield and Bejan, 2017; Masoudi et al , 2019) or absolute character (Turkyilmazoglu, 2023; Chung et al , 2009; Barletta, 2019). Extracting useful theoretical formula defining the route of absolute instability in Darcy–Benard convection is targeted here when a uniform magnetic field is operative within the porous layer.…”
