Free convective heat and mass transfer in a doubly stratified non-Darcy micropolar fluid

Abstract: The flow, heat and mass transfer characteristics of the free convection on a vertical plate with uniform and constant heat and mass fluxes in a doubly stratified micropolar fluid saturated non-Darcy porous medium are studied. The nonlinear governing equations and their associated boundary conditions are initially cast into dimensionless forms by pseudo-similarity variables. The resulting system of equations is then solved numerically using the Keller-box method. The numerical results are compared and found to … Show more

“…A mathematical model for the natural convection flow over a continuously moving plate immersed in a non-Darcian porous medium with stratification effect has been presented by Beg et al [4]. Srinivasacharya and RamReddy [5] investigated the double stratification effect on free convection flow in a non-Darcy porous medium with uniform heat and mass fluxes. With an influence of thermophoresis and radiation effects on free convection flow of a micropolar fluid through a non-Darcy porous medium has been discussed by Bakier [6].…”

“…A comprehensive review of theory and applications of micropolar fluids can be presented in the books by (Lukaszewicz, 1999;Eremeyev et al, 2013). The analysis of free convection flow of micropolar fluids in porous medium has been investigated by many researchers with different analysis, (Singh, 2013;El-Kabeir and Gorla, 2007;Beg et al, 2007; † Corresponding author: chramreddy@nitw.ac.in; chittetiram@gmail.com Srinivasacharya and RamReddy, 2013;Pal and Chatterjee, 2015), etc.…”

“…The mathematical aspects of micropolar fluid theory and its applications are reported in the books by Lukaszewicz (1999) and Eremeyev et al, 2013. Further, various authors to mention few ( Murthy and Singh, 1999;Bég et al, 2008;Srinivasacharya and RamReddy, 2013 ) scrutinized the mass and heat transfer characteristics of non-Newtonian and viscous fluid flows over a different surfaces in the Forchheimer porous medium.…”
