Summary Motivation Anti‐poverty programmes can work as a comprehensive data source of poor households’ economic behaviour and performance, a resource that is particularly scarce in environments without formal credit scores or households that have minimal involvement in economic activities. Purpose This study examines the potential role of information generated by an anti‐poverty programme on self‐selection by borrowers (i.e., applying for a loan), screening applicants by lenders (i.e., loan approval), and borrower performance in the microcredit market. Methods and approach We apply the logistic regression, Least Absolute Shrinkage and Selection Operator (LASSO), and Random Forest (RF) methods to predict self‐selection, screening, and post‐loan outcomes. Findings We show that the rate of accurate prediction is about 70% for self‐selection and screening. We find that the prediction accuracy rate is 68% for productive use and 91% for repayment difficulty. Objective indicators (e.g., income, assets, age of the household head, savings) stand as the most influential predictors of self‐selection, screening, and post‐loan outcomes. Policy implications Development programmes can improve availability of data needed to predict creditworthiness, suggesting that there could be potential to expand credit access among poor borrowers through partnerships between development agencies and financial institutions.

O trabalho encontra-se presente no cotidiano da humanidade há séculos; entretanto, é importante que este tema seja contextualizado para compreender a sua influência na vida do ser humano. A utilização da mão de obra infantil é uma prática comum existente no decorrer da história; o trabalho infantil ainda permanece no Brasil e no mundo, porém as lutas pela sua erradicação continuam. O objetivo do presente capítulo é identificar o impacto do trabalho precoce na adolescência. Sua escrita e desenvolvimento perpassou por etapas: busca em livros, artigos e teses sobre a importância e o impacto do trabalho na vida do adolescente; leitura dos documentos e informações encontradas; elaboração da escrita e reflexão sobre a influência do trabalho na vida do adolescente. A população jovem e vulnerável socialmente é a que mais incorre em atividade laboral; o trabalho infantil pode impactar a vida social, a saúde mental e a saúde física do adolescente. Acredita-se que a inserção do adolescente no mundo do trabalho deve acontecer apenas na condição de aprendiz e que todo o preparo desse jovem pode se iniciar no convívio familiar, nos pequenos afazeres domésticos, pois a experiência em família poderá qualifica-lo para os grandes desafios do mundo do trabalho, na fase adulta. O trabalho impacta a vida do adolescente; o seu significado para ele reveste-se de características particulares; a forma como socializa, as relações que estabelece com a educação e o trabalho, o seu modo de viver, pensar, agir e interagir, tem limitado o desenvolvimento de habilidades que serão essenciais para a vida adulta. A família é o alicerce, a base forte na vida desses adolescentes e jovens. O objetivo é promover por meio de reforços positivos a autoconfiança, a autoestima, a autonomia e a resiliência, para que no futuro existam homens capazes de responder por seus atos e ingressar no mercado de trabalho com prudência e bom senso. Considerações PreliminaresO trabalho, encontra-se presente no cotidiano da humanidade há séculos e é importante que este tema seja contextualizado para compreender a sua influência na vida do ser humano.O seu valor, nos dias atuais, não é só financeiro, mas há um valor moral que ele assume em nossa cultura.
