Abstract: The rôle of nucleic acids (DNA and RNA) during cleavage and differentiation in amphibian eggs is discussed, with spécial emphasis on the mechanisms of DNA sjTithesis in normal embryos and lethal hybrids, and on the RNA distribution during development.
