The Role of the Designer in the Affective Design Process: the Principle of Accordance

Abstract: Affective Design is gaining much attention from academic research and companies. In this paper, a research framework for assessing Innovation through Affective Design is presented. Moreover, Affective Design is correlated to Participatory Design through some definitions. The importance of an Affective approach during the earliest phases of design process is motivated. This study introduces Affective Design as a powerful approach in order to manage interactive Virtual Prototyping (iVP) methodology. The paper de… Show more

“…These attributes are rearrange-able based on design target -like the mode of sensory-perception: vision, touch, hear, smell and taste; or product's instantaneous state of existence: change in physical dimensions, appearance and functionality. For including such attributes in the design process,Camere and Bordegoni (2014) proposed 'Experience Map' tool based on the experience-driven multi-sensory design approach. The Experience Map is a tool to visually connect the designer's vision (based on qualitative methods like mood-boards and keywords) with a quantitative evaluation of sensory features.…”
