The Role of Curcuma Longa Rhizomes Ethanolic Extract on Human Lymphocytes Treated by Bickel by Using G Banding Technique and Karyotyping

Abstract: Curcuma longa L., which belongs to the Zingiberaceae family, is a perennial herb distributed throughout tropical and subtropical regions of the world, being widely cultivated in Asiatic countries, Curcuminoids are inherent compounds of the species C. longa, there are three main compounds of this pigmented curcuminoid complex, namely, curcumin, demethoxycurcumin, and bisdemethoxycurcumin. Curcumin is the major component of this plant, being responsible for the activities. Crude extract of Curcuma longa rhizomes… Show more

“…In the present study, the extraction process of curcumin from the Curcuma longa plant was carried out by following the previously reported extraction protocol by Pothitirat and Gritsanapan 35 with a bit of modification. 36,37 Briefly, about 100 g of Curcuma longa powder was mixed in 1000 ml of absolute ethanol under vigorous stirring and reflux at 60C for 24 h. Then the mixture was filtered using Whatman filter paper. The net yield of curcumin extracted from Curcuma longa powder was calculated by obtaining the precipitate from the extraction process was dried at room temperature and then weighted to obtain the yield of extracted curcumin as follows;Extracted curcumin (g) = the initial used Curcuma longa – the obtained precipitate powder…”

“…The filtrate was evaporated using a rotary evaporator (Buchi R-114) at a temperature of 50-60°C. [20][21][22] Liquid chromatography-high resolution mass spectrometry (LC-HRMS) analysis LC-HRMS analysis was conducted at Central Laboratory of Life Sciences, Brawijaya University. The ethanol extract of turmeric was dissolved in dimethyl sulfoxide (DMSO) (Merck) to make a final volume of 1300 μL.…”
