The response of shallot (Allium ascalonicum L.) growth and yield to gibberelline concentration and the interval of NASA liquid organic fertilizer

Abstract: This study was aimed at determining the effect of gibberellin concentration and the interval of Natural Nusantara (NASA) liquid organic fertilizer, as well as their interactions to influence growth and yield of shallots. This study was conducted from April to July 2019 in Experimental Field and Horticulture Laboratory of the Faculty of Agriculture, Universitas Syiah Kuala. The experiment used a Randomized Block Design with a Factorial pattern of 4x3. Gibberellin concentrations were observed at 4 levels (contro… Show more

“…The optimum planting distance will affect plant growth, because there is competition in the use of nutrients, but if nutrients are available sufficiently, plants do not lack nutrients even though there is competition because each plant gets adequate nutrient intake for its growth. As stated by Oktaviani et al, (2020), that plants that grow in optimum populations will be able to grow well as long as nutrients are available sufficiently. Furthermore, Khrisnamoorthy, (1981), suggests that crop production will increase at a certain population increase.…”

“…This is because at the time of flowering the flowering clumps have higher endogenous gibberellins (Table 2). Oktaviani et al (2020) stated that gibberellins are able to increase the yield of shallot bulbs. Gibberellins are able to increase cell size and the number of cells that cause cell division, increase the size and number of cells which ultimately increases the yield of shallots (Amiri et al 2017).…”

“…Combining chemical fertilizers with organic fertilizers is one of the effective fertilization efforts to increase crop yields and soil quality [15]. Several studies have been carried out that liquid organic fertilizer can support the growth and production of shallots [16][17][18][19][20]. Liquid organic fertilizer coconut husk waste dose of 1000 L ha -1 can increase plant height, number of leaves per plant, number of tillers, and yield of shallot bulbs [21].…”
