“…In males, this inhibition is not clearly demonstrated because the mechanism is only short term. In general, ovarian atresia, ovarian cysts or tumors, and testicular atrophy are described in the ageing population [King, 1978;Bureck, 1978], But this is not the case for M. murinus and we think that these anomalies as deter mined by gonadotropic disturbances are due to emotional stimuli according to modem conception [Greer and Morris, 1975;Henry and Stephens, 1977], Lastly, some alimentary factors may intervene to strengthen sexual pathology: (a) underfeeding which induces anemia and also a rise of gluco corticoid secretion [Edozien et al, 1978;Bajaj et al, 1979] and (b) lack of vitamin A or E? If the diet in captivity contains appreciable quantities of these vitamins, we cannot exclude the possibility of a reduced intestinal absorption (lipids lacking in diet) or inadequate storage (fatty liver).…”

“…In the female mouse lemur, the endometrium which was injured by the tumor would not play its luteolytic role and corpora lutea may persist. These retained corpora lutea may promote growth of these tumors (King, 1978]. In these condi tions, most of the states 4 found in weakened females do probably not reflect a normal estrous cycle.…”

“…These cysts vary in size and may be single or multiple (Plates 15 and 16). Cysts frequently secrete estrogen in excessive amounts, resulting in persistent estrus, cystic endometrial hyperplasia, and infertility (14). Cystic endometrial hyperplasia of the uterus is extremely common in B6C3F1 mice, with an incidence greater than 35% (15).…”

“…Spontaneous spermatic granuloma in the epididymis is known to occur in domestic and laboratory animals [2][3][4] However, this condition has been described only rarely in dogs and the morphological changes involved have not been studied thoroughly. We recently encountered the epididymal spermatic granuloma in a dog, and the present paper describes the morphological changes found in this condition.…”
