Gelir düzeyi artan ekonomilerde değişimler daha hızlı gerçekleşmektedir. Kadınlar bugün iş hayatında daha fazla yer alabileceği pozisyonların var olmasıyla geleneksel iş bölümü ve uzmanlaşma rollerinin dışında daha fazla hareket etmektedir. Kadınlar çeşitli nedenlerle daha fazla çalışma hayatına katılmaktadır. Bunların başında aile bütçesine katkıda bulmak, sadece erkeğin geliri ile ev ekonomisini sağlayamamak gibi ekonomik nedenler gelmektedir. Ayrıca kadınların eğitim hayatında eskiye nazaran daha fazla yer almaları da bu sürecin sonunda iş hayatında yer almayı daha sık istemelerine neden olmuştur. Gelir düzeyindeki artışla ortaya çıkan bir diğer durum da aile birliğinin daha sık bozulmasıdır. Bu iki değişimin aynı anda olması araştırmacıları boşanma ile kadın istihdamı arasındaki ilişkileri araştırmaya yöneltmiştir. Bu araştırmalarda, kadınların çalışmasının boşanma sayısını arttırdığını, boşanan kadınların gelir kaybı nedeniyle çalışmaya başladığını ve/veya kadınların çalışmasının aile birliğini koruduğunu iddia eden alternatif yaklaşımlar mevcuttur. Çalışmada Türkiye ekonomisinde kadın istihdamı ve boşanma arasındaki ilişki, 1989-2021 dönemi yıllık zaman serileri vasıtasıyla incelenmiştir. Engle-Granger (1987) testinden elde edilen bulgular iki değişken arasında uzun dönemli pozitif yönlü bir ilişkinin olduğunu göstermiştir. Nedensellik testlerinde ise boşanma oranlarından kadın istihdamına yönelik tek yönlü nedensel ilişki belirlenmiştir. Bulgular Türkiye’de boşanma oranı artışının kadın istihdamını arttırdığını göstermektedir.

The issue of employability is an important macroeconomic matter for today's economies. Especially, some policies aimed at increasing women's employment are being applied by many countries and various policy instruments are trying to eliminate the factors affecting women's employment. In this study investigated on women's employment is the effect and importance of divorce, which is expressed as one of the important socio-economic and cultural factors affecting women labor force participation. For this purpose, the relationships between divorce rates and female labor force participation rates were analyzed for Turkey within the content of 26 sub-regions. The findings of the study based on panel data analysis covering the period 2008-2021 presented the existence of positive and significant relationships between divorce rates and female labor force participation rates. This situation supports many studies in the literature between increasing divorce rates and women's employment. Its besides proves that the changes in the traditional social structure also support divorces and that increasing divorces force women to take more place in the labor market.

Sustainability of Women’s Employment Rate for Malaysian Economic Development

This research paper develops a model for the sustainability of women’s employment rate in Malaysia’s economic development. This study examined annual data from 1982 to 2018, with 37 observations. A new econometric method was adopted to determine both short-run and long-run relationships among the variables using the Johansen Cointegration rank test, Vector Error Correction Method (VECM) with error correction model of cointegration equation. The VECM results revealed significant and positive short-term relationships between foreign direct investment, gross domestic product (GDP), and the negative short-term relationship of the lagged period of women’s employment rate to women employment rate (WER). The variables, GDP, education level, and women’s marital status are cointegrated and have a long-term relationship between WER in the cointegration equation. The Johansen Cointegration rank test also showed the existence of cointegration equations, and a long-term relationship between the variables. Eventually, the residual diagnosis, significant error term, and the performance of the model evaluation were found as satisfactory and valid. In short, this research paves the way for policymakers to construct a better policy for the future of women’s employment sustainability.
