The purpose of this study is to identify the correlation between occupational professionalism of teachers and their fear of loss of dignity. The sample for the study designed in accordance with the relational survey model is composed of 530 teachers who worked at primary schools, secondary schools and high schools in Muğla province, Turkey, and were selected through the disproportionate cluster sampling technique. The research data was gathered with the Occupational Professionalism of Teachers Scale and the Loss of Face Scale. Descriptive statistics, t-test, ANOVA and multiple regression analysis were used for analyzing the data. The data obtained shows that teachers have a high level of occupational professionalism and that they are the most professional in terms of occupational sensitivity. Occupational professionalism of teachers varies significantly by gender, type of school and seniority. On the other hand, teachers have an above-average fear of loss of dignity. Their fear of loss of dignity varies significantly by the type of school, yet shows no significant variation for gender or occupational seniority. All aspects of teachers' occupational professionalism and their fear of loss of dignity show a low and significant correlation. It was seen that personal development and emotional labor aspects of occupational professionalism are significant precursors for teachers' fear of loss of dignity. Keywords:Occupational professionalism, profession, fear of loss of dignity, teacher ÖzBu çalışmanın amacı, öğretmenlerin mesleki profesyonellikleri ile saygınlıklarını yitirme kaygıları arasındaki ilişkiyi belirlemektir. İlişkisel tarama modelinde desenlenen araştırmanın örneklemini, Muğla ilinde bulunan ilkokul, ortaokul ve liselerde görev yapan ve oransız küme örneklemesi yöntemi ile seçilen 530 öğretmen oluşturmaktadır. Araştırma verileri Öğretmenlerin Mesleki Profesyonelliği Ölçeği ve Saygınlığını Yitirme Kaygısı Ölçeği ile toplanmıştır. Verilerin analizinde betimsel istatistikler, t-testi, ANOVA ve çoklu regresyon analizi kullanılmıştır. Elde edilen bulgulara göre, öğretmenlerin mesleki profesyonellikleri yüksektir ve en çok mesleki duyarlılık boyutunda profesyonellik sergilemektedirler. Öğretmenlerin mesleki profesyonellikleri, cinsiyet, okul türü ve kıdem değişkenlerine göre anlamlı farklar göstermiştir. Öğretmenlerin saygınlıklarını yitirme kaygıları ise orta düzeyin üzerindedir. Saygınlığını yitirme kaygıları, okul türüne göre anlamlı düzeyde farklılaşmakta, ancak cinsiyet ve mesleki kıdem değişkenlerine göre anlamlı farklar göstermemektedir. Öğretmenlerin mesleki profesyonellikleri ile ilgili boyutların tümü birlikte, öğretmenlerin saygınlıklarını yitirme kaygıları ile düşük düzeyde ve anlamlı bir ilişki vermektedir. Mesleki profesyonelliğin kişisel gelişim ve duygusal emek boyutlarının, öğretmenlerin saygınlıklarını yitirme kaygılarının anlamlı yordayıcıları olduğu görülmüştür.

ÖzDuygusal emek, bireyin duygularını mesleğinin gerektirdiği kurallara göre yönetmesi olarak tanımlanabilir. Bireylerin zaman zaman ifadelerin dışa vurumu esnasında duygularını abartması, bastırması, ya da taklit etmesi gerekebilmektedir. Her meslekte az çok olduğu gibi öğretmenlik mesleği de duygularla iç içedir ve bazen öğretmenlerin de işleri gereği sınıf ortamında duygularını kısıtlaması, değiştirmesi ya da gizlemesi gerekir. Duygusal emek davranışı, belirli bir çaba gerektirmektedir ve bu davranışın gösterilmesinin öğretmenin mesleğine ve içinde yer aldığı eğitim sistemine ne kadar inandığı ile alakalı olacağı düşünülmektedir. Bu sebeple bu araştırmanın amacı öğretmenlerin eğitime inanma düzeylerini ve duygusal emek davranışı düzeylerini ortaya koymak ve bunlar arasındaki ilişkiyi incelemektir. Araştırma ilişkisel tarama modelinde desenlenmiştir. Araştırmanın çalışma grubunu, 2015-2016 öğretim yılı süresince farklı okul düzeylerinde çalışmakta olan 311 öğretmen oluşturmaktadır. Araştırmada veri toplama aracı olarak "Duygusal Emek Ölçeği" ve "Öğretmenlerin Eğitime İnanma Düzeyi Ölçeği" kullanılmıştır. Verilerin analizinde ortalama, standart sapma ve korelasyon analizi kullanılmıştır. Araştırmada elde edilen sonuçlara göre öğretmenlerin eğitime inançları "çok az" düzeyinde iken duygusal emek davranışları "bazen" düzeyindedir. AbstractEmotional labor can be described as managing feelings in accordance with professional rules. People sometimes need to enhance, suppress or fake their emotions to modify their emotional expression. As in every profession, teaching is also intertwined with the feelings. Sometimes teachers need to restrict, change or hide their feelings in classroom as a part of their job. Since the emotional labor requires a specific effort, it is thought that the teachers' emotional labor behaviour might be related with teachers' beliefs on their occupation and education system. For this reason the aim of this study was to explore the teachers' levels of believe in education and their emotional labour behaviour level. This study also focused on the relationship between these variables. In the study, a survey method in a quantitative research approach was adopted. The population of the study consisted of 311 teachers employed in various school levels during the 2015-2016 academic term. Throughout the study, two different scales; namely, "Emotional Lobor Scale", "Teachers' Levels of Believe in Education Scale (TLBES)" were used to gather data. The purpose of this study is to determine the relationship between teacher autonomy and emotional labor. The population for the study, designed in relational survey model, is composed of teachers who worked at primary, secondary and high schools in Muğla province and the sample were selected through the disproportionate cluster sampling technique. The data was gathered with the Teacher Autonomy Scale and the Emotional Labour Scale. Descriptive statistics, t-test, ANOVA and multiple regression analysis were used to analyse the data. According to the results obtained from the study, the general autonomy behaviors of teachers were determined to be above the moderate level and among the dimensions of autonomy, teachers displayed teaching autonomy the most. It was also identified that teacher autonomy differed significantly by school type and school level, whereas it did not differ significantly by gender and seniority. On the other hand, teachers indicated that they display naturally felt emotions the most among the dimensions of emotional labor. Teachers' emotional labor behaviors differed significantly by gender, whereas they did not differ significantly by school type, school level, and seniority. According to the results of regression analysis it was determined that there was a significant and close to moderate level of relationship between all dimensions of emotional labor and teaching, curriculum, communication and general teacher autonomy. However, a significant and low level of relationship was found between the dimensions of emotional labor and professional development autonomy. Last but not least, expression of naturally-felt emotions was identified as a significant predictor of all the dimensions of teacher autonomy.
