This paper identifies the determinants of economic growth and analyses the dynamics of income using a panel of 522 Brazilian micro-regions for period . Based on the spatial extension of the Mankiw-Romer-Weil (MRW) model and explicitly considering both physical and human capital, the parameters of a Spatial Durbin Model (SDM) with fixed-effects are estimated. The direct and indirect impacts of the determinants of regional growth are then calculated. The results indicate strong spatial dependence among Brazilian micro-regions and that investments in both physical and human capital are important for the growth of the Brazilian regional economies. Uniwersytet Warmińsko-Mazurski w Olsztynie KRYZYS GOSPODARCZY A ZRÓŻNICOWANIE REGIONALNE W UE Streszczenie: Celem artykułu jest analiza zmian regionalnych zróżnicowań w poziomie dochodu w krajach UE (27) w latach 2002-2011, ze szczególnym uwzględnieniem okresu oddziaływania światowego kryzysu finansowego. Analizie zostały poddane zarówno wewnątrzkrajowe zróżnicowania na poziomie NUTS 3, jak i te obserwowane w całej UE w odniesieniu do przeciętnych zmian w poziomie dochodu w UE. Stopień zróżnicowań w zamożności regionów określono przy wykorzystaniu współczynnika zmienności, będącego ilorazem odchylenia standardowego i średniego poziomu PKB na mieszkańca. W trakcie analizy okazało się, że po latach konwergencji w poziomie zamożności, obserwowane zróżnicowanie regionalne od 2009 r. do 2011 r. uległo znacznej dywergencji. Za obserwowane zmiany były przede wszystkim odpowiedzialne wybrane podregiony z Niemiec, Polski, Holandii, Węgier (rozwijające się relatywnie najszybciej) oraz tracące względem średniego poziomu zamożności podregiony z Wielkiej Brytanii, Irlandii, Grecji. Analiza wartości średnich w grupach podregionów według klasyfikacji OECD/KE pozwoliła ustalić typy regionów cechujące się najbardziej korzystnymi i najbardziej niekorzystnymi zmianami w poziomie PKB na mieszkańca względem średniej UE w latach 2007-2011.
