“…For the three transitions in neutral lithium the average values and the corresponding standard deviation are listed. The overall average of all measurements is −0.63 (20) fm 2 , where the uncertainty is given by the standard deviation. The average of the bold printed δ r 2 6,7 values from [14,94] and this work is −0.734(40) fm 2 and is indicated in Fig.…”

“…Spectroscopy on trapped ions or atoms has proved to provide the required sensitivity and accuracy for such measurements [16,17]; however, the 11 Li lifetime is much too short to allow sufficient time for trapping and cooling. The 2s 2 S 1/2 → 2p 2 P J transitions in Li were used previously for several investigations of 8,9,11 Li in collinear laser spectroscopy by optical pumping and β nuclear magnetic resonance (β-NMR) detection [18][19][20][21][22]. In these cases the lithium ions, provided by the ISOLDE radioactive beam facility at CERN, were neutralized in flight in a charge exchange cell and then used as a fast atomic beam.…”

“…We describe the tensor correlations in 9 Li fully in the tensor-optimized shell model, where the variation of the size parameters of the single particle orbits is essential for getting strong tensor correlations. We have shown in our previous study that in 10,11 Li the tensor and pairing correlations in 9 Li are Pauli-blocked by additional valence neutrons, which make the p-shell configurations pushed up in energy. As a result, the s 2 valence neutron component increases to reveal the halo structure of 11 Li and the inversion phenomenon of the single particle spectrum in 10 Li arises.…”

“…However, it was only recently that such measurements became possible for the radioactive isotopes of the lightest nuclei [3][4][5][6]. Based on new and very specialized techniques, two groups have succeeded in measuring, for the first time, optical isotope shifts of very light radioactive nuclei (Z<10) with a precision that is sufficient to extract nuclear charge radii.…”

“…11 Li was the first halo nucleus that was studied in this way. In a series of measurements the COLLAPS collaboration at ISOLDE determined the nuclear magnetic dipole moment and the electric quadrupole moment using the β-NMR technique [3][4][5].…”
