Dentine hypersensitivity remains an enigma. Although, it is known to usually present with sharp, short pain caused by one or more external stimuli, it is often inadequately understood. Controversies therefore abound concerning the appropriate terminology for the condition, variations in prevalence, and what is most important to the patients suffering from the condition -a treatment that provides immediate relief with long lasting effect. Available interventions using desensitizing agents provide only temporary relief. The interest of dental practitioners and researchers in dentine hypersensitivity remains very high as it is still a common complaint among patients globally. The myriad array of treatments available and claims of efficacy has not lessened the clinician's dilemma. As a guide and update for clinicians, the aim of this paper is to review the published literature and provide current opinion on the prevalence, aetiology, mechanism, clinical features, treatment as well as the concept of oral health related quality of life among patients with dentine hypersensitivity. A manual and PubMed literature search was conducted using the keywords: dentine hypersensitivity, tooth sensitivity, cervical dentine hypersensitivity, root dentine hypersensitivity in combination with the words prevalence, epidemiology, diagnosis, mechanism, aetiology, clinical features, treatment, oral health or quality of life. The recently developed treatment agents appear promising but will require more randomized clinical trials. Dentine hypersensitivity remains a common condition with significant effect on daily life. The incorporation of a measure of oral health related quality of life is recommended as one of the outcome measures for new treatment modalities.

ÖzetDentin hassasiyeti, kimyasal, termal, mekanik, ozmotik ve buharlaştırıcı uyaranlara cevap olarak artan, açığa çıkmış dentin dokusunda ortaya çıkan, herhangi bir diş hasarı veya patolojisi ile açıklanamayan kısa süreli, keskin ve lokalize bir ağrı ile karakterizedir. Kesik dişler, tüberkül kırıkları, çatlak dişler, çürük ve kenar uyumsuzluğu/sızıntısı gibi dentinin açığa çıktığı ve hassasiyete neden olan benzer semptomlarla ayırt edici tanının doğru konabilmesi çok önemlidir. Doğru bir ayırıcı tanı için dikkatli klinik muayene ve ayrıntılı bir anamnez alınması gereklidir. Klinisyenlerin dentin hassasiyeti için uygun tedavi uygulamalarını belirlemeleri, tedavi edici ve koruyucu önerilerde bulunmaları gereklidir. Ayrıca, dentin hassasiyetinin tedavisinde diş tedavisinin de dikkate alınması gereklidir. Bu makalede yayınlanmış literatürler gözden geçirilerek dentin hassasiyetinin tanımı, yaygınlığı, epidemiyolojisi, mekanizması, etiyolojisi, teşhis ve tedavi planlaması tartışılacaktır. Anahtar sözcükler: Dentin hassasiyeti, etiyoloji, teşhis, tedavi planlaması Abstract Dentin hypersensitivity is characterized by short, sharp pain arising from exposed dentin in response to stimuli-typically thermal, evaporative, tactile, osmotic, or chemical-that cannot be attributed to any other dental defect or pathology. Differential diagnosis is essential in order to exclude other conditions with similar symptomswhere dentin is exposed and sensitive, such as chipped teeth, fractured cusps, cracked teeth, caries, and restorations with marginal deficiencies/leakage. Arriving at a correct differential diagnosis requires careful clinical examinations and a thorough dental history. Clinicians must determine appropriate treatment, and provide treatment and preventive recommendations for dentinal hypersensitivity. Consideration should also be given to treating dentinal hypersensitivity associated with dental treatment. This paper will review the published literature and discuss the definition, prevalence, epidemiology, mechanism, aetiology, diagnosis and management of dentin hypersensitivity.

Çalışmamızın amacı; postoperatif diş hassasiyetini gidermek için kullanılan hassasiyet giderici ajanların, adeziv simantasyondaki bağlantıya etkisini incelemektir. Gereç ve SUMMARY Aim:The aim of the study is to research the effect that link is in adhesive cementation of dentin desensitizing agent, which use to desensitizate prosperative dental. Materials and Methods:In this study, sixteen intact human third molar teeth were used. The teeth were randomly divided into two different groups (n: 8). Two different dentin desensitizer agents, Gluma and Teethmate Desensitizer, are used in the study. All samples were embedded into PMMA-based acrylic resin. The occlusal enamel tissues of teeth were removed to expose occlusal dentin. In the first group, firstly Gluma Desensitizer was applied to dentin surfaces according to manufacturer' instruction.
