THE PREPARATION OF CRYSTALLINE d-TALONIC ACID

Abstract: o-dichlorobenzene and anhydrous aluminum chloride into S'T'-dichloro-2-benzoylbenzoic acid, and the conversion of this acid, by means of sulfuric acid, into 2,3-dichloro-anthraquinone. Upon fusion with alkali the dichloro-anthraquinone is converted into alizarin.(2) The claim of Sprent and Dodd1 that 2-chloro-anthraquinone is obtained by the condensation of phthalic anhydride and o-dichlorobenzene could not be confirmed.
