The Predictive Value of Monocytes in Immune Microenvironment and Prognosis of Glioma Patients Based on Machine Learning

Abstract: Gliomas are primary malignant brain tumors. Monocytes have been proved to actively participate in tumor growth. Weighted gene co-expression network analysis was used to identify meaningful monocyte-related genes for clustering. Neural network and SVM were applied for validating clustering results. Somatic mutation and copy number variation were used for defining the features of identified clusters. Differentially expressed genes (DEGs) between the stratified groups after performing elastic regression and princ… Show more

“…However, through this large-scale analysis, the immune characteristics of CD74 were preliminarily demonstrated, which could provide a reference for further investigation of the regulatory association between CD74 and immune cells. The low tumor purity has been implicated to be associated with poor prognosis in glioma patients (Zhang et al, 2017;Xu et al, 2021;Zhang et al, 2021;Kang et al, 2021). Since high expression of CD74 indicated low tumor purity, we further explored the clinical significance of CD74 in glioma patients.…”

“…Therefore, the interconnections between glioma and the TIME would be impacted if the energy supply or the cellular context of these cells alters with malignancy progressing. Substantial bioinformatic analyses raise awareness of the autophagy-associated links between glioma and the components of TIME predicting a wide area of intensive basic research ( 214 219 ). It has been anticipated by distinct autophagy gene signature-based prognostic risk models that there is more immune cells infiltration in the sets with higher autophagy risk scores, implying latent autophagy-involved associations between autophagy and immunity in glioma ( 214 , 218 , 220 ).…”

“…Bioinformatics analysis has been used to evaluate the abundance of immune infiltrating cells in the TME. Several studies have also explored how TME affects immunotherapeutic response and other clinical outcomes ( 9 , 10 ).…”
