Although the beneficial effects of the agricultural extension of farmers’ biopesticide adoption have been largely demonstrated, the questions of what approaches can better extend biopesticides and how to improve the inefficiencies of biopesticide extension still need to be explored. In a survey of 1148 rice farmers in Hubei Province, China, the technology supply and demand theory was used to explain the low efficiency of biopesticide extension. The endogenous switching probit model was used to estimate the impact of biopesticide technology publicity, training, demonstration and subsidies on farmers’ adoption. The results show that biopesticide extension can promote rice farmers’ adoption probability by 10.3% ~ 11.7%. Among these methods, technology demonstration is currently the best way to extend biopesticides. Moreover, inadequate supply and demand of biopesticides are important for explaining the inefficiency of biopesticide extension in China. Extending biopesticides is better for farmers with smaller scales, younger ages, and lower education and for those who are cooperative members. Therefore, we should not only actively conduct biopesticide demonstration but also more importantly induce farmers’ biopesticide demand and secure the market supply of biopesticide products. These findings will provide useful guidance for biopesticide extension and pesticide reduction in China and other developing countries.

Pesticides are one of the most important anthropogenic-related stressors. In times of global pollinator decline, the role of integrated farming and that of urban gardens in supporting wild pollinators is becoming increasingly important. We circulated an online questionnaire to survey the plant protection practices among Hungarian farmers and garden owners with a particular emphasis on pollinator protection. We found that plant growers heavily rely on pesticide use, and pesticides are widely used in otherwise pollinator-friendly gardens. Whether pesticide use practices were driven by expert opinion and the respondents' sex were the best predictors of pesticide use. Although most respondents supported pollinators, pesticides are also widely used among home garden owners, which can pose a non-evident ecological trap for pollinator populations in the gardens. Special attention should be paid to implementing measures to reduce pesticide, use not only in farmlands but also in home gardens. Environmental education and financial support through agroecological schemes could efficiently promote the transition. However, whereas farmers can be encouraged to reduce pesticide use mostly by expert advice, garden owners are likely to rely on more conventional information channels. The attitude of Hungarian plant growers can provide an insight into pesticide use practices of Central and Eastern European countries, but similar surveys are needed across Europe for a complete understanding of broad-scale processes. This work lays the foundations for similar studies which can inform and facilitate the transformation processes to pesticide-free farming and gardening.

In this paper, based on the fact that is still a small peasant economy in China and there are many small plots, this article studies small and medium sprayers. In this sprayer, the subdivision precision spraying control system, designed for precision agriculture applications, was simulated by the LabVIEW software, while an experimental setup was able to measure and record during laboratory experiments. The main pipeline of sprayer chose the A and B. And the two different pipelines were set in the different target spray volume. When the theoretical spray value was kept being unchanged, the flow rate was verified with the field sprayer speed which were set by the pulse generator. With that the pressure stability test was completed. Based on the analysis and experimental results, the flow control precision is 97.03%, and the pressure stability precision is 97.88%, the relative average of the pulse generator is 0.05. Finally, the subdivision system could control the flow of the two branches and was better than the traditional spray method in China, while it could achieve more precise control of spray.
