“…Several data encourage the use of the Anatomage Table from students, who through this tool have the possibility to virtually dissect a digital, life-sized human cadaver and understand organ alterations [ 2 , 36 ]. Knowing the anatomical variations is crucial for medical student education [ 37 ].…”

“…Similarly, medicals observed an odontogenic keratocyst by means of the Anatomage Table. This neck lesion was easily detected by students, who could appreciate and study it through different cuts (sagittal, axial, and coronal) and, consequently, investigate and explain the proposed surgical intervention [ 36 ]. Moreover, Brucoli and collaborators [ 20 ] loaded DICOM images of unilateral orbital floor fractures on Anatomage.…”

“…As we knew the potential of the VDT and the quality of its specimens and images, we were confident that this cadaver lab setting and protocol would provide additional opportunities for students to review gross anatomy related to the regions being explored in the lab while boosting their anatomy comprehension and grades. Additionally, requiring students to be more actively involved in their learning by manipulating the virtual cadaver and analyzing different structures enabled them to discern the structural and functional anatomical relationships and these configurations and areas fit together while influencing movement (Brucoli et al, 2020& Darras et al, 2020.…”

“…In addition to the clear disadvantages of learning anatomy from flat 2-D resources, scholars often exhibit a passive learning posture as a result of using these resources, such as simply listening and waiting for the professor to show them the material rather than seeking a more hands-on approach (Minhas, Ghosh, & Swanzy, 2012). The VDT is a valuable instrument that allows the user to manipulate various anatomical structures and navigate across different architectural arrangements (Ward, 2018;Brucoli, et al, 2020& Brucoli, et al,2018 while illustrating real human anatomy details and heightening TLE, even in earlier stages, such as among undergraduate scholars (Rosario et al, 2019). We recognize that the VDT can provide students with a smooth transition from the didactic portion of anatomy courses to the cadaver laboratory portion by enhancing 3-D perspectives, as it has been previously successful in similar scenarios (Afsharpour et al, 2018).…”

“…Recent literature showed how patients are positively influenced when the digital design is used as explanation and demonstration, such as in surgical procedures or when is required a multidisciplinary approach including orthodontic, periodontal and prosthetic interventions. 12,[22][23][24] Of course, the issue of unrealistic expectations of patients deserves to be more deeply evaluated: the feasibility to have a good-looking preview of the final results could create an illusory expectation in our patients. Therefore, the right counselling, a sound and a proper explanation of the procedure and its limitation are mandatory to obtain valid consent and subsequent satisfaction of our patients.…”
