The possible protective role of quercetin on induced cardiac Oxidative DNA Damage by repeated exposure to diesel exhaust nanoparticles in rats (a histological and immunohistochemical study)

Abstract: Diesel exhaust nanoparticles (DENPs) are gaseous exhaust and one component of particulate matter (PM) air pollution which is found to cause health hazards in humans. Quercetin is widely known for its antioxidant and antitoxic potential. We aimed todetect the protective effect of quercetin in DENP-induced cardio toxicity. Fifty Malealbino rats were divided into two groups, first group (ten rats) divided into two equal subgroups (one receive saline act as control and other receive quercetin, the second group (fort… Show more

“…MSC-MVs have many therapeutic effects in different diseases, as renal injury, brain injury, heart injury and lung injury [34]. The therapeutic ability of MSC-MVs has been studied in different disease models, showing a similar or even superior effect to MSCs themselves [35][36] which has showed in our result.…”

“…Quercetin has significant anti-inflammatory effects and antioxidant properties with subsequent amelioration of DENPs-induced damage in different tissues [8,10] . Our findings agreed with results reported by Huang et al [9] who stated that quercetin attenuated lipopolysaccharideinduced pathological changes in the lung tissue where the inflammatory cell infiltration and alveolar wall thickening were attenuated by quercetin pretreatment.…”

“…Quercetin was dissolved in olive oil at a concentration of 60 mg/kg B.Wt and was delivered to rats by oral gavage 1h before instillation of DENPs [10].Quercetin was found to be well tolerated in humans and animals in the given doses [15] .…”
