The building industry, which emits a significant quantity of greenhouse gases, is under tremendous pressure due to global climate change and its consequences for communities. Given the environmental issues associated with cement production, geopolymer concrete has emerged as a sustainable construction material. Geopolymer concrete is an eco-friendly construction material that uses industrial or agricultural by-product ashes as the principal binder instead of Portland cement. Fly ash, ground granulated blast furnace slag, rice husk ash, metakaolin, and palm oil fuel ash were all employed as binders in geopolymer concrete, with fly ash being the most frequent. The most important engineering property for all types of concrete composites, including geopolymer concrete, is the compressive strength. It is influenced by different parameters such as the chemical composition of the binder materials, alkaline liquid to binder ratio, extra water content, superplasticizers dosages, binder content, fine and coarse aggregate content, sodium hydroxide and sodium silicate content, the ratio of sodium silicate to sodium hydroxide, the concentration of sodium hydroxide (molarity), curing temperature, curing durations inside oven, and specimen ages. In order to demonstrate the effects of these varied parameters on the compressive strength of the fly ash-based geopolymer concrete, a comprehensive dataset of 800 samples was gathered and analyzed. According to the findings, the curing temperature, sodium silicate content, and alkaline solution to binder ratio are the most significant independent parameters influencing the compressive strength of the fly ash-based geopolymer concrete (FA-BGPC) composites.

In this study, Geopolymer concrete (GPC) blended with fly ash (FA), ground granulated blast furnace slag (GGBS), rice husk ash (RHA), and nano-silica (NS) developed and investigated in three aspects: In the first aspect of GPC (FA+GGBS), FA varied from 0-100% of GGBS at 10 % intervals to determine the optimum proportion of FA-GGBS. In the second aspect of GPC (FA+GGBS+RHA), RHA varied from 0-25% of FA at 5% intervals with a constant of 30% GGBS attained from the first aspect of the study. In the third aspect of GPC (FA+GGBS+RHA+NS), NS was replaced with 1, 3, and 5% with the optimum proportions of GGBS (30%) and RHA (15%) obtained from the first and second aspects of the study. The fresh and hardened properties of GPC were obtained at 7 and 28 days under ambient curing. The compressive strength improved while FA was replaced by GGBS (0-100%) from 27.75 to 45 MPa. Meanwhile, workability has decreased to 0.81 from 0.97. Hence, the optimized proportion of FA and GGBS was obtained as 70:30 from the workability aspect. RHA replacement provided compressive strength increment up to 15% (39.5 MPa), but workability gradually decreased (0.92 to 0.84) from 0 to 25%. So, the optimum proportion of RHA was achieved by 15% from the second aspect. In the third aspect, the workability increased from 0.89 to 0.92 while NS replacement (0-3%) with FA. Also, compressive strength has improved from 39.52 to 41.95 MPa. Thus, the optimized NS proportion gained at 3% of NS. Overall, this study provides a view of industrial by-product utilization as part of GPC in optimal proportions.

Geopolymers are innovative cementitious materials that can completely replace traditional Portland cement composites and have a lower carbon footprint than Portland cement. Recent efforts have been made to incorporate various nanomaterials, most notably nano-silica (nS), into geopolymer concrete (GPC) to improve the composite's properties and performance. Compression strength (CS) is one of the essential properties of all types of concrete composites, including geopolymer concrete. As a result, creating a credible model for forecasting concrete CS is critical for saving time, energy, and money, as well as providing guidance for scheduling the construction process and removing formworks. This paper presents a large amount of mixed design data correlated to mechanical strength using empirical correlations and neural networks. Several models, including artificial neural network, M5P-tree, linear regression, nonlinear regression, and multilogistic regression models were utilized to create models for forecasting the CS of GPC incorporated nS. In this case, about 207 tested CS values were collected from literature studies and then analyzed to promote the models. For the first time, eleven effective variables were employed as input model parameters during the modeling process, including the alkaline solution to binder ratio, binder content, fine and coarse aggregate content, NaOH and Na2SiO3 content, Na2SiO3/NaOH ratio, molarity, nS content, curing temperatures, and ages. The developed models were assessed using different statistical tools such as RMSE, MAE, SI, OBJ value, and R2. Results revealed that the ANN model estimated the CS of GPC incorporated nS more accurately than the other models. On the other hand, the alkaline solution to binder ratio, molarity, NaOH content, curing temperature, and ages were those parameters that have significant influences on the CS of GPC incorporated nS.
