The Perme scale score as a predictor of functional status and complications after discharge from the intensive care unit in patients undergoing liver transplantation

Abstract: Objective To assess the Perme mobility scale score as a predictor of functional status and complications in the postoperative period in patients undergoing liver transplantation. Methods The sample consisted of 30 patients who underwent liver transplantation. The patients were evaluated at two time points to determine their perception of pain, degree of dyspnea, peripheral muscle strength, and functional status according to the Perme scale. The collected data were analy… Show more

“…Studies of functional outcomes after pediatric ICU stay have gained prominence recently, but they have include patients with a wide range of illnesses. ( 20 - 22 ) In Brazil, studies on functional deficits in specific illnesses are scarce, ( 14 ) making it difficult to identify potential risk groups and factors that may be associated with worsened functional status after discharge from the pediatric ICU.…”

“…It indicates functional performance, particularly the patients' walking capacity, in the ICU at a specific time 14 . Most previous studies have used Perme Score at a specific moment in time and specific patient populations [15][16][17] . However, it is still unclear whether the Perme Score predicts the length of stay in the cardiovascular ICU and the possible influence of respiratory muscle strength, pulmonary function, and handgrip strength during the preoperative period on the mobility status of patients undergoing CABG and valve replacement.…”
