“…Apesar de algumas pesquisas indicarem que a resistência a C. maculatus em caupi estava associada a alta concentração de inibidores de tripsina e/ou de α-amilase (Gatehouse et al 1979, Piergiovanni et al 1991, Baker et al (1989) e Zhu et al (1994) não encontraram correlação entre parâmetros biológicos e esses inibidores. Outros fatores, como uma variante da proteína vicilina, o polissacarídeo quitina, características morfológicas, além da combinação de características físicas e químicas, também estão envolvidos nessa resistência (Kitch et al 1991, XavierFilho 1991, Xavier-Filho et al 1996, Oingiangbe & Onigbinde 1996, Moraes et al 1998. Entretanto, a inconsistência das informações exige estudos adicionais para o isolamento dos fatores associados com a resistência de alguns grãos a C. maculatus.…”
