Abstract: Bacteria belonging to theEnterobacteriaceaefamily that produce extended-spectrumβ-lactamase (ESBL) enzymes are important pathogens of infections. Increasing numbers of ESBL-producing bacterial strains exhibiting multidrug resistance have been observed.
