“…Moreover, the implantation and pregnancy rate in a group of infertile women with uncorrected septate uteri undergoing IVF-ET was similar to that of the general infertile population (30). Moreover, mice with functional inactivation of one VEGF allele have been generated showing no problems during the initial process of embryonic implantation (31,32).…”

“…5 Uterine malformations are often associated with breech presentation, a great risk for premature labor, abnormal presentations with fetal dystocia, and the necessity for cesarean section, 5 all of which can result in early fetal loss. In a study reported by Marcus et al, 7 the group of 9 patients with unicornuate uteri and uterus didelphys had a higher rate of term delivery (67%) and a lower abortion rate (0%) than did the group of patients with septate uterus and bicornuate uteri, in which the term delivery rate was 10% and the abortion rate was 30%. In comparison, the rate of pregnancy loss was 30% in cases of uterus didelphys reported by Heinonen.…”

“…Although congenital uterine malformations are associated with poor reproductive performance, each type may have a different impact on reproduction [4]. Unicornuate uterus and uterus didelphys seem to have a similar effect on pregnancy outcome, since uterus didelphys may be considered as a symmetrical duplication of a unicornuate uterus [4][5][6].…”
