“…The evidence of nominalizing velar prefixes in the current study in combination with Konnerth (2012) makes it clear that we are dealing with a truly pan-TibetoBurman morpheme. Nominalizing velar prefixes occur in the Eastern, Western, and Central divisions of Tibeto-Burman -independent of the details of the larger classification schemes -and in each of the major divisions, there is at least one language whose prefix covers the whole breadth of nominalizing functions that is typical of the family.…”
