The purpose of this study is a scientifically based selection of representatives of the genera Paeonia L., Hosta L. and Iris L., promising for use in urban landscaping. The choice of research objects is determined by three criteria. These are: 1) representatives of the genera Paeonia, Hosta and Iris - large generic complexes with a large number of cultivars; 2) their cultivars are characterized by a wide morphological diversity; 3) in Russia, these cultures have long been actively used in landscape design. Their own set of characteristics has been studied for them. These signs are important for the selection of plants used in the greened objects of the city. The genus Paeonia is represented by a sample of 19 cultivars of P. lactiflora Pall. with a Japanese flower shape. The variability of three quantitative characteristics was studied - the length of the stem, its thickness at the base and the diameter of the flower. The genus Hosta is represented by a sample of 23 names. The variability was studied according to four characteristics - the length and width of the leaf blade, the leaf area, and the length of the petiole. The genus Iris is represented by a selection of 10 names. The variability of six characteristics was studied - the height of the plant, the number of flowers on the peduncle, the length of the flower and the width of the flower, the length and width of the leaf blade. Statistical processing of the obtained data was carried out using the program “Statistica Base”. Classical methods of data processing are used. The development of models of flower beds is carried out using the AutoCAD program. From the total composition of the sample, promising varieties and forms were selected for each culture under study. In representatives of the genus Paeonia - this is the cultivar ‘Bu-Te’. For the genus Hosta, these are the cultivars ‘Frances Williams’ and ‘Liberty’. In the genus Iris, it is a form of natural origin I. sibirica f. albiflora. Based on the data obtained, 3 mixborders were designed with the participation of these cultivars and one form of natural origin.

Currently, intensive introduction and breeding studies are carried out in the Floriculture Laboratory of Nikitsky Botanical Garden -National Scientific Centre of the Russian Academy of Sciences (NBG -NSC) on nine main flower and ornamental crops: iris, canna, clematis, daylily, pelargonium, rose, lilac, tulip and chrysanthemum. Garden chrysanthemum (Chrysanthemum × morifolium (Ramat.) Hemsl.) collected by NBG -NSC is of national importance, as it is the largest collection on the territory of the Russian Federation. According to the inventory data for 2022, it counts 179 large-flowered and 209 small-flowered cultivar samples. The garden group of small-flowered chrysanthemums includes cultivars and hybrid forms with inflorescences from 3.0 to 9.0 cm in diameter. The paper presents long-term data of phenological observations for 100 small-flowered C. × morifolium cultivars, included in the collection of NBG -NSC. The terms of initial blossom and duration for the studied cultivars and hybrid forms in the conditions of the Southern coast of Crimea have been established. The rhythmological groups are distinguished by the terms of initial blossom (early: 17 cultivars and hybrid forms that flower on average in early October; medium: 64 cultivars and hybrid forms that flower in mid-October; late: 19 cultivars and hybrid forms that flower in early November) and flowering duration (short-flowering: average flowering lasts up to 6 weeks -10 cultivars and hybrid forms; medium-flowering: from 6 to 8 weeks -72 cultivars and hybrid forms; long-flowering: more than 8 weeks -18 cultivars and hybrid forms).

Abstract. This study shows the improvement of classical methods of studying the growth and development of ornamental plants through the use of modern digital technologies. The purpose of the work is to show students in the direction of 35.03.10 “Landscape architecture” (Decorative plant growing profile) the biological features and decorative qualities of introduced plants in the conditions of the continental climate of the forest-steppe of Western Siberia and to create a digital phenological library. Methods. The construction of the phenospectrum was based on the works of T. I. Fomina and I. N. Beideman. For the design of complete phenospectrum of beautifully flowering plants, it was noted: regrowth, vegetation, budding, flowering, fruit tying, fruit ripening, the end of vegetation. In the abbreviated versions for the digital phenological library, only the periods of vegetation and decorative were noted, the flowering phase was filled with a color corresponding to the color of the variety or species. Calculations for plotting hydrothermal conditions were carried out by standard methods using statistical packages of the Microsoft Excel 2003 program. Results. Examples of single-band phenospectrum characterizing various phenorhythmotypes are given. The advantage of two-band phenospectrum compiled according to the Method of phenological observations for botanical gardens is shown when characterizing plants that create a flowering and decorative-deciduous effect. According to this Method, the phenology of vegetative aboveground shoots includes the phases: B1 – the beginning of spring regrowth; B2 – the unfolding of leaves, B3 – the end of shoot growth, L1 – the beginning of leaf death, L2 – complete leaf death. Additional phenophases are proposed for a more complete description of the spring and summer decorative-deciduous effect. For example, Vant or Vlim is a period when young leaves have a bright anthocyanin or lemon color. Additionally, the period of regrowth of summer leaf generation is shown. In the course of training, on the basis of the compiled templates, the method of combining phenospectrum with diagrams of hydrothermal conditions of growing seasons, including abnormally arid and abnormally humid, is also mastered. Scientific novelty. The possibilities of a digital phenological library are shown, which allow to quickly and reliably simulate the flowering and decorative-deciduous aspects of flower expositions and landscape groups based on complete and abbreviated phenomenon spectra. The materials of the digital phenological library complement the visualization of landscaping projects.
