“…The distribution of the melanomata in our series was, on the whole, similar to other large series ( Table 5). The striking preponderance for lesions to occur on the lower leg in females, particularly in the younger age groups, (below the age of 40 years) was seen in our series and has been commented on by others (Clout, 1972;Petersen et al, 1962;White, 1959;Clark & MacDonald, 1953). Lesions on the foot and ankle in women in our series also showed quite a high incidence, but the prognosis of the two areas-leg, and ankle and foot, was markedly different.…”
