Background The COVID-19 pandemic has impacted surgical training nationwide. Our former curricula will likely not return, and training will need to adapt, so we are able to graduate residents of the same caliber as prior to the pandemic. Methods A survey evaluating perceptions of changes made in surgical training was conducted on surgery residents and attendings. Results Disaster medicine training has become more relevant and 85% residents and 75% attendings agreed it should be incorporated into the curriculum. Safety of family was the most significant concern of residents. Virtual curriculum was perceived to be acceptable by 82% residents and only 22% attendings (p < 0.01). Residents (37%) were less concerned than attendings (61%) of falling behind on their overall training (p = 0.04). Both groups agreed operative skills would be adversely affected (56%vs72%; p = 0.37). Conclusions To maintain an effective surgical curriculum, programs will need to implement new educational components to better prepare residents to become surgeons of the future.

Improving the quality of education can be implemented in various ways. This study aims to analyze the triple helix approach in the management of School Operational Assistance funds which are decentralized to schools. Decentralized planning, organizing, directing and controlling the process as stipulated in the Regulation of the Minister of Education and Culture of the Republic of Indonesia concerning Technical Guidelines for Regular School Operational Assistance. Data collection was carried out through questionnaires and in-depth interviews with 35 respondents, namely the principal, and the administrator of the secondary and vocational school committee in Sidenreng Rappang Regency. Use the Nvivo-12 plus program assistance to process data from interviews, documents and explanations from the Minister of Education and Culture. The results showed that the authority and deconcentration and devaluation authority dominated the process of using school operational assistance funds. The main finding of this study is the importance of the triple helix approach of universities, industry, and local government in the area of decentralization of authority for channelling school operational assistance funds. This finding is supported by optimizing the involvement of the triple helix in school committee members. The implications of the triple helix approach will ensure accountability and transparency in the management of school operational assistance funds because they are stakeholders in the education sector, especially in secondary and vocational schools.

The objective of this study was to explore the impact of sensory marketing on millennial impulsive buying behaviour in Mthatha, Eastern Cape, South Africa. This objective is motivated based on the trend of millennial participation in the retail market both local and international in recent time. To achieve the objective of this study, a quantitative research method was employed, where data was collected from 240 millennials within Mthatha purposively. Inferential analysis was conducted using SmartPLS, and structural equation modeling was used to test and evaluate multivariate causal relationships among the variables. The findings of the study show a positive and significant impact of core domain variables, which include Store Environment and Floor Merchandising on millennial impulsive buying behaviour, while Promotions had an insignificant positive impact on millennial impulsive buying behaviour on three most patronised retail stores in Mthatha, South Africa. In conclusion, Store Environment and Floor Merchandising are key variables that positively influence the impulsive buying behaviour of millennials as compared to Promotions. This study recommends that marketers who focus on millennial goods and services should employ the findings of this study to increase impulse purchases. On the side of the millennials, they should familiarise themselves with different marketing strategies to critically manage their buying pattern.
