The mechanisms underlying the therapeutic effects of reflexotherapy and drinking mineral waters in the patients presenting with metabolic syndrome

Abstract: The addition of acupuncture or domestic mineral water intake to the standard therapy of the patients suffering from metabolic syndrome significantly enhances the effectiveness of the treatment. The beneficial therapeutic action of acupuncture and drinking mineral water is underlain by their impact on the mechanisms of resistance to insulin that manifests itself as a decrease of the fasting secretion of this hormone and optimization of carbohydrate and lipid metabolism. The therapeutic effect of acupuncture and… Show more

“…The research conducted by for the current study convincingly confirm the stimulating effect of drinking mineral waters of various compositions on the induction of digestive system hormones, many of which activate insulin production. The significance of enteroinsular hormonal relationships in the development of metabolic disorders and the realization of the biological potential of MW, has been confirmed [33]. In the mechanisms of the systemic (organismal) influence of drinking MW, a prominent role belongs to their non-specific hormone-stimulating effect, the magnitude of which largely depends on the concentration of monovalent ions (primarily hydrocarbonates and sodium) and free carbon dioxide [34].…”

“…Питьевая бальнеотерапия является патогенетически оправданной у пациенток с МС и КС. Показано, что включение ее в комплексные программы реабилитации при коморбидной патологии у пациентов c МС оказывает положительное влияние на углеводный, жировой обмен, гемостаз [11].…”

“…It provides relief from arthritis, muscular stress and strains, joint pains and also inflammatory skin diseases [5]. Many cases of neuralgia, myalgia, rheumatoids, dermatosis, osteosis, cardiac diseases, Inflammatory Bowel Diseases, metabolic diseases due to indigestion and constipation and hyper conditions of osseous diseases were marginally cured by the usage or bathing in hot springs [6][7][8][9][10][11][12][13]. Hence, it is interesting to note that study of hot springs from balneotherapeutic point of view and its chemical ecology is a significant rationale behind this research.…”
