The meaning and importance of digitalization in criminology

Abstract

This article examines the importance and features of digitalization in modern criminology. Various approaches to understanding the terms "information", "digital information" and "electronic media" are considered and updated. In addition, the normative legal acts concerning the digitalization and normalization of legal science and practice are analyzed. The authors propose new approaches to the modernization of criminal and criminal procedure legislation. The authors reveal the essence of the terms "digital information", "electronic-digital information" and "computer information" designating them with identical concepts and indicate their equivalent meaning in criminology According to the authors, the need to consider and further study digitalization in criminology is due to the rapid development of information technologies and their widespread use in criminal activities.
