The Longibrachiatum Clade of Trichoderma: a revision with new species

Abstract: The Longibrachiatum Clade of Trichoderma is revised. Eight new species are described (T. aethiopicum, T. capillare, T. flagellatum, T. gillesii, T. gracile, T. pinnatum, T. saturnisporopsis, T. solani). The twenty-one species known to belong to the Longibrachiatum Clade are included in a synoptic key. Trichoderma parareesei and T. effusum are redescribed based on new collections or additional observations. Hypocrea teleomorphs are reported for T. gillesii and T. pinnatum. Previously described species are annot… Show more

“…A phylogenetic analysis of the tef1 locus grouped them in a sister clade next to T. sinensis ( Figure 1C), which was described based on three isolates from Taiwan [38]. Based on our isolates Samuels et al [39] recently described this species as T. flagellatum Mulaw, Kubicek et Samuels as a common endophyte in roots of coffee in Ethiopia. It forms a clade with T. sinense, T. konilangbra, and T. gillesii [39,40].…”

“…We examined (i) macroscopic characteristics of the colony (radius growth, mycelium color, formation of soluble pigment, concentric rings and pustules) and (ii) microscopic features (conidiophore, supporting cells, phialides, conidia and chlamydospores) based on Samuels et al ( , 2012, Chaverri et al (2001Chaverri et al ( , 2003aChaverri et al ( , 2003b, Bissett et al (2003), and Jaklitsch et al (2006).…”

“…Recently, the taxonomic delimitation of this species has been updated by Samuels et al (2012) elaboration on previous work (Samuels et al, 1998). Several reports exploit the extra-cellular enzymes of T. citrinoviride for bioconversion and bioenergy production (e.g.…”
