The investigation of antistatic effects of 1-ethyl-2,3-dimethylimidazolium ethyl sulphate for acrylic-based polymer film

Abstract: This study aims to produce a long-term antistatic acrylic-based film by incorporating ionic liquid (IL), 1-ethyl-2,3-dimethylimidazolium ethyl sulphate (EIL) into acrylic resin. After loading, characterisations of samples were conducted by mechanically, thermally and morphologically. In order to determine antistatic properties, surface resistivity of samples was measured by using at different time intervals. The results indicated that IL loaded polymers showed a good antistatic property for a long time. The ef… Show more

“…And the increase of tensile strength is generally accompanied by the sacrifice of flexibility [62]. It is known that the tensile strength and the elongation at break of waterborne acrylic resin modified by Jiao et al [53] Moreover, Seki et al [64] prepared acrylic resin modified with 1-ethyl-2, 3-dimethylimidazole ethyl sulfate, its tensile strength was 3.10 MPa. Mostafa et al [65] prepared acrylic resin modified with chitosan nanoparticles, its tensile strength was 1.51 MPa.…”

“…Most ILs are electroconductive, which can serve as antistatic agents in polymers . For example, the surface resistivity of the acrylic resin decreased from 3.03 × 10 14 to 6.87 × 10 10 Ω by the incorporation of 0.5 g of 1‐ethyl‐2,3‐dimethyl imidazolium ethyl sulfate . Tsurumaki et al .…”
