The Investigation of a Multi‐Functional Peptide as Gelator, Dyes Separation Agent and Metal Ions Adsorbent

Abstract: A multi‐functional peptide molecule was rational designed to use as gelator, dyes separation agent and metal ions adsorbent. The peptide molecule consists of phenylalanine‐phenylalanine‐alanine‐cysteine‐aspartic acid with a protective group of acetyl, simplified as Ac‐FFACD‐OH. FF is the critical composition of gelator and contributes to the formation of gels in a range of pH values from 1.0 to 6.0. The application as drug delivery system (DDS) of gels was tested by encapsulating DOX without destroying the gel… Show more

“…115 Based on its strong self-assembly ability, FF has become one of the most extensively studied short peptide derivative sequences in terms of molecular modification, structural modulation and its application as a building block. [116][117][118][119] These particular peptide segments have become the focal template for the research, which provides guidance for the development of enhanced Ab inhibition effects and targeting.…”

“…Discharge of dye wastewater into environmental water bodies will cause serious damage to nature, such as water hypoxia, biological toxicity, and heavy metal pollution [1–3] . In order to treat dye wastewater, a variety of methods have been explored [4–13] . Among them, adsorption is considered to be one of the most effective methods because of its cost‐effectiveness, high efficiency and simple operation [14–23] .…”

“…The design and preparation of self-assembled peptide nanostructures make it possible to create functional nanomaterials for various applications [ 31 , 32 ]. In addition, peptides are excellent candidates for sustainable water purification materials due to their diverse functional groups and rich binding sites for various ions [ 33 , 34 , 35 ]. In addition, self-assembled peptide nanofibers (PNFs) as biomaterials have the unique characteristics of metal ion binding and biomimetic synthesis of metal oxide nanomaterials [ 36 , 37 ].…”
