The pan-cancer analysis of whole genomes The expansion of whole-genome sequencing studies from individual ICGC and TCGA working groups presented the opportunity to undertake a meta-analysis of genomic features across tumour types. To achieve this, the PCAWG Consortium was established. A Technical Working Group implemented the informatics analyses by aggregating the raw sequencing data from different working groups that studied individual tumour types, aligning the sequences to the human genome and delivering a set of high-quality somatic mutation calls for downstream analysis (Extended Data Fig. 1). Given the recent meta-analysis
Hybrid organic/inorganic lead halide perovskites (LHPs) have recently emerged as extremely promising photonic materials. However, the exploration of their optical nonlinearities has been mainly focused on the third- and higher-order nonlinear optical (NLO) effects. Strong second-order NLO responses are hardly expected from ordinary LHPs due to their intrinsic centrosymmetric structures, but are highly desirable for advancing their applications in the next generation integrated photonic circuits. Here we demonstrate the fabrication of a novel noncentrosymmetric LHP material by introducing chiral amines as the organic component. The nanowires grown from this new LHP material crystallize in a noncentrosymmetric P1 space group and demonstrate highly efficient second harmonic generation (SHG) with high polarization ratios and chiroptical NLO effects. Such a chiral perovskite skeleton could provide a new platform for future engineering of optoelectronic functionalities of hybrid perovskite materials.
Halide perovskites provide an ideal platform for engineering highly promising semiconductor materials for a wide range of applications in optoelectronic devices, such as photovoltaics, light‐emitting diodes, photodetectors, and lasers. More recently, increasing research efforts have been directed toward the nonlinear optical properties of halide perovskites because of their unique chemical and electronic properties, which are of crucial importance for advancing their applications in next‐generation photonic devices. Here, the current state of the art in the field of nonlinear optics (NLO) in halide perovskite materials is reviewed. Halide perovskites are categorized into hybrid organic/inorganic and pure inorganic ones, and their second‐, third‐, and higher‐order NLO properties are summarized. The performance of halide perovskite materials in NLO devices such as upconversion lasers and ultrafast laser modulators is analyzed. Several potential perspectives and research directions of these promising materials for nonlinear optics are presented.
Exhaled breath samples had the highest positive rate (26.9%, n=52), followed by surface swabs (5.4%, n=242), and air samples (3.8%, n=26). COVID-19 patients recruited in Beijing exhaled millions of SARS-CoV-2 RNA copies into the air per hour. Exhaled breath emission may play an important role in the COVID-19 transmission.
All-inorganic cesium lead bromide CsPbBr perovskite quantum dots (QDs) are emerging as potential candidates for their applications in optoelectronic devices but they suffer from poor long-term stability due to their high sensitivity to UV irradiation, heat, and especially to moisture. Although great advances in improving stability of perovskite QDs have been achieved by surface modification or encapsulation in polymer and silica, they are not sufficiently refrained from external environment due to nondense structures of these protective layers. In this work, in situ nanocrystallization strategy is developed to directly grow CsPbBr QDs among a specially designed TeO-based glass matrix. As a result, QD-embedded glass shows typical bright green emission assigned to exciton recombination radiation and significant improvement of photon/thermal stability and water resistance due to the effective protecting role of dense structural glass. Particularly, ∼90% of emission intensity is even remained after immersing QD-embedded glass in water up to 120 h, enabling them to find promising applications in white-light-emitting device with superior color stability and low-threshold random upconverted laser under ambient air condition.
Halide perovskites have emerged as a type of extremely promising material for their diverse chemical and electronic structures along with their brilliant optoelectronic properties. The introduction of chirality into perovskite scaffolds, generating a novel concept of chiral perovskite materials, offers an immense step forward toward the development of smart optoelectronic and spintronic materials and devices. The present Review summarizes recent advances in such an emerging field regarding the design and construction of chiral perovskite materials, along with their optoelectronic performances. In addition, an outlook of future challenges as well as the potential significance of the chiral perovskite family on the optical communication is proposed.
