The Internalisation of External Costs of Co2 and Pollutant Emissions From Passenger Cars

Abstract: The paper's goal is to unify practical and theoretical aspects of internalisation of external costs, in line with the "polluter pays" and "user pays" principles. Due to the impossibility of applying an ideal economic solution for internalisation of external costs, alternative solutions have to be developed and implemented. One of the possible solutions for internalisation of external costs of CO 2 and pollutant emissions from passenger cars is presented in this paper. It is a new methodology for calculating an… Show more

“…The specific CO 2 tank-to-wheels emission of FFC depends on maintenance type (preventive or corrective) and specific emission when the car was a new [13,14,22]. We assume that specific CO 2 emission has not been changed during exploitation.…”

“…Analysing the relevant literature, it can be noticed that there are numerous studies dealing with sustainable development of transport. In some of these studies the negative environmental impacts are expressed as values of externalities while external cost values are calculated in others [6,7]. Also, it is noticeable that researchers have used different methodology to determine these values.…”

“…Both, passenger (Peng et al 2015) and freight road transport (Hao et al 2015) are analysed in these studies. In addition, in many of these studies authors proposed different mitigation measures and assessed their effectiveness in GHG reduction (Yan, Crookes 2009;Bakker, Huizenga 2010;Kaplanović, Mijailović 2012;Török et al 2014;Chavez-Baeza, Sheinbaum-Pardo 2014).…”
