The Intensity Analysis of Production Living Ecological Land in Shandong Province, China

Abstract: Due to the limitedness of land, the coordinated development of production, living, and ecological (PLE) land is essential for sustainable development. A clear understanding of PLE land change is necessary given the increased human activities, especially in developing regions. This study first reclassified remotely sensed landuse maps in Shandong province into PLE land. Then the spatiotemporal change of PLE land between 2000 and 2015 was analyzed using spatial trajectory and intensity analysis methods. The resu… Show more

“…During rapid urbanization and industrialization, land-use transitions may directly or indirectly impact regional ecoenvironments, leading to derived eco-environmental effects (Foley et al, 2005;Lambin and Meyfroidt, 2011;Zhang et al, 2011;Haas and Ban, 2014;Hu et al, 2016;Quintas-Soriano et al, 2016;Allington et al, 2017;Hanaõcek and Rodríguez-Labajos, 2018;Li et al, 2020;Long et al, 2020;Tian et al, 2020). The concept of production-living-ecological space (PLES) was first proposed in the report of the 18th National Congress of the Communist Party of China in 2012 (Hu, 2012), which stressed that "the production space should be intensive and highly efficient, the living space should be moderate and livable, and the ecological space should be unspoiled and beautiful" (Sun et al, 2020;Wang et al, 2020;Fu and Zhang, 2021). Research on land-use transitions and eco-environmental effects from the perspective of PLES is an important basis for optimizing the rational allocation of land resources and for constructing an ecological civilization, which has become a major topic in current research (Li et al, 2016;Liu et al, 2017;Asadolahi et al, 2018;Luo et al, 2018;Hu M. et al, 2019;Hu S. et al, 2019;Lou et al, 2019;Asabere et al, 2020;Tan et al, 2020;Xie et al, 2021;Wang et al, 2022).…”

“…where α and β take 0.50 and 0.50 respectively to calculate the production-living coordination; α and χ take 0.55 and 0.45 respectively to calculate the production-ecological coordination; β and χ take 0.55 and 0.45 respectively to calculate the living-ecological coordination [41]. Therefore, the coupling and coordination level of PLES function in one study area can be obtained by Equations ( 6) and (7).…”

“…Land is an important vehicle for terrestrial ecosystems, and various land use types are interdependent and inter-constrained. The expansion or reduction of construction land will cause changes in other land use types, and carbon emissions and carbon sequestrations will also change accordingly [ 12 , 13 ]. Based on this, in terms of the acquisition of a carbon emissions dataset, this study has estimated the net carbon emissions from the perspective of carbon sinks and sources of land use, using the carbon emissions (sequestrations) of each land type and the carbon emissions for energy consumption associated with construction land.…”
