The Influence of the Size Effects on the Termoelectrical Properties of PbTe Thin Films

Abstract: Based on the Boltzmann kinetic equation, the boundary problem of calculating the conductivity and Seebeck coefficient for a film with a rectangular cross section is solved. The mirror-diffuse mechanism of reflection of charge carriers from the film surfaces is considered. The calculations are performed for different thicknesses of n-PbTe semiconductor. For the model of a quantum rectangular well with a flat bottom and infinitely high walls, the value of the Seebeck coefficient S was calculated for n-PbTe. The … Show more

“…This allows the user to connect the mobile device only while using the application or periodically to transfer data to the server, which significantly saves battery power. As a power source in the case of an earlobe clip, it is convenient to use miniature lithium-ion batteries of the LIR2032 type, it is also possible to use smaller batteries, for example LIR1220, and thin-film thermoelectric converters based on IV-VI compounds to extend the period of operation without recharging [14][15][16][17], which can work due to the temperature difference between the human body and the environment. The pulse wave analysis algorithm consists in processing an array of digitized data, determining the points А0-А3 and Т0-Т4 (Fig.…”

“…Thermoelectric materials have been used for many years as a reliable solid-state technology for applications ranging from local cooling to waste heat utilization [1]. The achievements of recent years in the synthesis of semiconductor materials have led to an improvement in the conversion of thermal energy into electrical energy due to the nanostructuring of materials, and have expanded the application boundaries of thermoelectric energy [2,3]. In addition, a time-sTable nanostructured material with high electrical conductivity has been obtained by doping [4].…”

“…This material is widely investigated both in the form of massive samples (single crystals, polycrystalline form, porous material) and in the form of thin films and one-dimensional structures. In addition, the lead telluride has been a model object for the study of physical processes in semiconductors for many years [1][2][3].…”
