“…The high-resolution nature of the synchrotron data allowed establishing the phase's polymorphism without selective dissolution. This information is important not only for accurate RQPA, but also because the polymorphs may influence the strength development during hydration (Stanek and Sulovsky 2002). Furthermore, the use of capillaries of 1.0 mm of diameter in the synchrotron study allowed a large amount of sample to be tested which yield very reproducible diffraction intensities and so accurate RQPA results.…”

“…At 28 days, both hydrated samples were composed of Ca(OH) 2 (CH), C-S-H and unhydrated C 3 S. The area of C 3 S peaks in R sample is smaller than that in C 2 sample while the area of CH in R sample is larger than that in C 2 sample. At 28 days, the compressive strengths of R and C 2 are, respectively, 80.5Mpa and 63.6Mpa.The difference in the areas of CH and C 3 S peaks and compressive strengths between R and C 2 resulted from the transformation of C 3 S from M 1 to M 3 which make the hydration of C 3 S become slow [12] . In a highly alkaline condition, Cu 2 + should ultimately be in the form of Cu(OH) 2 but the peaks of Cu(OH) 2 were not found yet at 28 days.…”

“…The cement strength can be enhanced by ion doping [1][2][3][4][5][6] , introducing new phase [7][8][9][10] or other physical and chemical methods [11][12][13][14][15][16] . But the influence of high content of C 3 S in cement on the strength of cement was not studied systematically.…”
